Watamu Coastal Escape

Less visited than Diani but arguably more beautiful, Watamu sits within a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve on Kenya's north coast. A small, unhurried village surrounded by pristine beaches, ancient ruins, and some of the best snorkelling on the East African coast, Watamu is where travellers come when they want the authentic Kenya. The marine national park is home to spectacular coral gardens, sea turtles, dolphins, and seasonal whale sharks. Inland, the 13th-century Gede Ruins and the mangrove channels of Mida Creek add historical and ecological depth to what is already an exceptional natural setting.
